Mr Gavin Love

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

BMSc MBChB FRCSEd (Trauma and Orthopaedics)

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in Hip and Knee surgery, Trauma and Limb Reconstruction. My NHS practice is based at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, and Perth Royal Infirmary. I have been a Consultant in NHS Tayside since 2012. I qualified from the University of Dundee in 2002, and trained in Tayside and Glasgow, before undertaking specialist fellowships in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital Clydebank, and in Limb Reconstruction at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Kurgan, Siberia. I maintain a keen interest and have a diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine.

I am happy to see patients of all ages with hip or knee pain. I can quickly undertake CT or MRI scans locally, if clinically required, and offer non-operative management such as joint injection in the clinic. Should we decide that surgery is required, I can offer knee and hip replacement surgery, as well as keyhole (arthroscopic) knee surgery at Circle Health Group’s Kings Park Hospital in Stirling, where I have practicing privileges. I work with an excellent team of anaesthetists, nurses and physiotherapists; our focus is on achieving the best possible outcome for each individual person. I use modern clinically proven implants and perform surgery on adults of all ages, using enhanced recovery techniques. For selected patients, I am able to offer hip replacement as a daycase procedure at Kings Park Hospital.

I am also one of a small number of surgeons in Scotland accredited to perform the Conformis custom knee replacement, a  personalised knee replacement manufactured to fit your own knee, rather than using an "off the shelf" implant. This leads to less pain, higher satisfaction rates and a more natural feeling knee.
