Dr David Connell

Dr. Connell studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge where he was awarded a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences (Physiology) and then the University of Oxford, graduating in 2004 and winning the Margaret Hodge Prize in Clinical Finals. He completed higher specialist training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in North-West London including at St.Mary’s Hospital, where he completed a PhD in Tuberculosis, and also the Royal Brompton Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital, before becoming a Consultant at Ninewells Hospital in 2017. 

Dr. Connell is interested in the management of all patients with general respiratory and medical problems, and has a sub-speciality interest in complex lung infections and tuberculosis (TB). He is actively involved in clinical research and guideline-writing on chronic fungal lung diseases, and led the Specialist Advisory Group at the British Thoracic Society (BTS) for Pulmonary Infections from 2019-23. He is now Co-Chair of the Scottish Health Protection Tuberculosis Network and is a Clinical Service Advisor to the BTS MDR-TB Advice Service. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and a PACES examiner.

He is very happy to see all patients with general respiratory and medical problems.

Dr Helen Liddicoat

Dr Helen Liddicoat (She/her)

BSc (Hons) MBBS PgCert FRCP (Edin)

Dr. Liddicoat studied at Imperial College London, achieving a 1st Class Honours degree in Medical Sciences with Immunology and Pathology, before graduating in Medicine in 2004.

She trained in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in North-East London, completing her rotation at Barts and The Royal London. Dr. Liddicoat completed a year as a prestigious Darzi Fellow in Clinical Leadership and Quality Improvement during this time, through which was awarded a PgCert in Healthcare Management and Leadership from the Kings Fund and Manchester Business School.

Starting as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Ninewells Hospital in 2018, Dr Liddicoattreats patients with all Respiratory conditions, and has a sub-speciality interest in Pleural Disease and Lung Cancer. Dr Liddicoat is a Quality Improvement Fellow at NHS Tayside and has led on a number of projects across the organisation to improve patient care. Dr. Liddicoat is Training Programme Director for Respiratory Medicine in East of Scotland.She is Clinical Lead for Bronchoscopy services at Ninewells Hospital and sits on the National Faculty for Advanced Bronchoscopy and Endobronchial Ultrasound at NHS Education Scotland. Dr Liddicoat is a Council member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh as well as Chair of the Recently Appointed Consultants Committee.

She is passionate about treating patients with a person-centred and holistic approach.
