Penelope Fraser

Mrs Penelope Fraser MA(Hons), MSc, DipClin Hyp, CHSM is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Penelope is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). She is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

Penelope is trained in various psychological treatments including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement and Desensitisation (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Neurolinguistic Processing (NLP), Timeline Therapy, Mindfulness, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

She has a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and is a qualified teacher of Qi Gong.

She was the Clinical Lead in Clinical Health Psychology in NHS Tayside. She also taught on the Clinical Psychology Course at University of Edinburgh. She was an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Abertay. She lectured, as requested, to Doctors, Dentists, Clinical Psychologists, medical students and to patient self-help groups. She was one of the National Assessors for Clinical Psychology in the UK advising Heads of Departments and Health Boards as necessary. She was a member of working groups on the Scottish Intercollegiate Network (SIGN)which develop evidence-based guidelines to help health and social care professionals and patients make evidence-based decisions about healthcare.

She provides treatment for patients who had psychological reactions either to their physical injury/disease or to the medical treatment that is required or to the impact that such events or accidents have had on their lives. She also helps people who have various psychological problems in including

- Anger, Shame, Guilt

- Anxiety disorders (post-traumatic stress [PTSD], phobias, panic disorders, health anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders [OCD])

- Low mood and depression

- Low self-esteem and low self confidence

- Psychological or emotional difficulties relating to long term physical health issues (including Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, Skin Conditions, Unexplained Medical Conditions)

- Psychosexual problems

- Sleep problems

- Sports Injuries

- Relationship issues

- Weight management

- Work stress/occupational stress

Penelope has worked in the private sector for over 30 years. She treats adults and teenagers (15+ years). She is an accredited therapist with many of the Private Insurance Companies.
