Mr Douglas Robinson

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Upper Limb)

Mr Douglas Robinson has been a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2011. He qualified from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands in 2001, after which he successfully completed his Orthopaedic Specialist training in Tayside. He underwent subspecialty training at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, a busy tertiary referral hospital, in 2010 under Mr Andrew Brooksbank (Shoulder) and Mr Lech Rymaszewski (elbow).

He started his career as a Consultant Upper Limb Surgeon at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in 2011, before moving back to his Orthopaedic roots in Ninewells and Stracathro Hospitals, Tayside in 2017. Since his appointment, he takes part in the Ninewells trauma rota, a Major Trauma Centre. He has expertise in complex upper limb trauma and as such takes specialist referrals from other consultants in the region.

Mr Robinson’s elective practice is solely upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder) oriented. He provides a very comprehensive and patient centred approach, using medical evidence to guide his practice. His other activities include taking co-responsibility for the University of Dundee Medical School Musculoskeletal teaching and he plays an active role within post-graduate Orthopaedic surgical training and teaching.
