Prof. Arpit Jariwala

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Upper Limb)

I am presently working as a Consultant Upper Limb and Trauma surgeon in NHS Tayside, Dundee, Scotland since November 2013. Having completed by higher surgical training in Scotland, I gained further experience in the management of upper limb orthopaedic disorders at the world renowned tertiary referral unit, Wrightington Hospital.

My clinical practice predominantly deals with upper limb injuries and disorders of shoulder, elbow and hand and wrist focusing mainly on arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder impingement, frozen shoulder, calcific tendonitis, rotator cuff repairs, elbow surgery including elbow arthritis and instability, tennis and golfers elbow, nerve releases at elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and surgery for trigger finger.

I undertake reconstructions of complex upper limb trauma including shoulder, clavicle, elbow and wrist fractures and specialise in management in mismanaged or missed upper limb injuries.

I regularly review patients with painful arthritis of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand and finger arthritis and advise them regarding best options including injections or replacement surgery to help pain and regain function.

With my strong academic background and having completed my Higher Degree (MD), I have been recently promoted as a Clinical Reader(Hon) with the University of Dundee for teaching, training and supervision for both under and post graduate students and trainees. I regularly organise seminar for GPs in and around Tayside and Open Public Seminars for patients and residents of Tayside.
